Color Coded

There are so many options to choose from when deciding what colors you might want to incorporate into your media room. Sometimes it’s easier when you have a starting point, like a sports team’s colors you wish to base your theme on, shades that coordinate with the rest of your home décor or a lavish inspiration like traditional theater red velvet seats!

Though crazy themes are certainly not out of the question, today Tha Media Room covers your basic color selections: black and brown. Each can be made into a traditional or a modern aesthetic, depending on the type of furniture you wish to bring into the room and the colors you fold into the décor.

Decorating in brown can be done tastefully without making the space look like a monotonous heap. Varying the shades used—from cream and very light tans to dark mahogany colors—keeps it all from looking exactly the same and adds some variety as well. It’s also a good opportunity to bring in natural elements, like a stone wall, oak coffee tables or hardwood floors. Be sure to add just a few muted tones of colors to keep the room from looking “dull.” This can be done with accent pillows, lamp shades, rugs and accessories like vases or picture frames.

Stay tuned for our next post with tips and ideas on an all-black media room!
