JVC Introduces 3D-Enabled Projector

Eyebrows raised when 3D glasses became an optional accessory at the movies a few years ago. Later, when the list of films offering the 3D viewing option grew to, well, just about every movie released, many wondered, "how far can 3D really go?"

Eyebrows: be prepared. JVC is now introducing a 3D-enabled projector you can purchase for use in your very own home theater! The JVC home page states, "3D has recently become a major box office draw. Now, with 3D broadcast channels emerging, and a growing number of 3D Blu-ray titles available, consumers want the immersive 3D experience in their homes,”(Gary Klasmeier, product engineering manager, D-ILA Systems, JVC Professional Products).

The 3D projector line will feature six new projectors with three 0.7” 1920 x 1080 D-ILA devices and will be designed around JVC’s third generation D-ILA High Dynamic Range optical engine. The top four models (DLA-RS60, DLA-RS50, DLA-X9, DLA-X7) will take the technology a step further adding a 16-step lamp aperture system. All models will insure that the viewership is identical to that available in a movie theater.

And you can't forget the accessories! JVC’s PK-AG1 3D glasses and PK-EM1 3D Signal Emitter will also be available in late November.

So, eyebrows, calm yourselves. The 3D fad isn't going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, the next 3D movie you see maybe in a theater right in the comfort of your own home.
