The Color Wheel Part 2 of 2

This media room is bold! Orange is most certainly the color here, as it’s seen from the ceiling to the walls, the artwork, the sofa and even the flooring. The key to creating a room that’s focused on all one color is to break it up with a few thoughtfully placed pieces, like these small tables, the light fixture, the mirror and the art. By bringing in subtle hints of complimentary shades, the main hue becomes a statement color rather than an overwhelming one.

For a casual yet colorful touch, focus on only one or two main items in this room. This media space is created from a taupe color base and is refreshingly brightened up with turquoise curtains and a sofa. Both of these are very close in color, if not the same color, creating unity even though they are the only bright objects in the room.

Whether you simply can’t decide on a color you like or you’re a minimalist at heart, white is always a great go-to resource. It’s chic and classy and will never go out of style. Plus, it’s easy to match—white is white is white! This media room changes things up just slightly with cream-colored sofas, but an all-white setup can be crisp and airy. Just don’t serve any red wine!

Speaker Blast - Part 2 of 2

Their speakers are sure to give you the ultimate home theater experience, especially the HT-S9300THX. It’s packed with seven bad boy speakers—located in the front, center, surround and surround back—which include woofer diaphragms crafted from Onkyo’s advanced A-OMF material (that’s abradable organic microballoon filler to us regular folk). The system is equipped with an audio/visual receiver to help you control all your must-have home entertainment technologies. The HT-S9300THX is HDMI 1.4a capable, allowing you the ability to watch 3D videos; and its Faroudja DCDi Cinema™ enables 1080p upscaling via HDMI of all video sources. The system also offers powered Zone 2 audio and Audyssey room-correction.

After a dream TV screen, playback system and speakers come the “conductor.” You don’t want to be fumbling with five different controls, trying to remember which one cranks up the volume and which one presses play. Onkyo’s PR-SC5508 is one of the brand’s newest and most advanced channel network audio/visual controller. Eight of the latest HDMI 1.4a inputs are all compatiable with the new 3D video format, along with 1080p. The 9.2 audio channels are music to your ears, allowing you the enjoyment of expanded surround formats from Dolby and Audyssey and lossless audio (a reduction of the transmission bandwidth required by digital audio streams) from DTS and Dolby. The PR-SC5508 is an all-in-one home network system, which can also incorporate internet radio or PC-based audio into your system. So whether you’re jamming out with some tunes or chilling out with a movie, you’ll hold all the control at your fingertips. What's New? - Part 2

Tha Media Room continues our foray into one of the things we love most—beautiful, gorgeous TVs. Here’s some more of the latest screens to hit the market!

The Vizio XVT3D6SP series recently earned CNET’s Best of CES award in the TVs category, and rightly so. It comes in two sizes (47- and 55-inch) and are Google TV capable, meaning there’s a bevy of apps to choose from and interoperability between the television and Android-based phones and tablets. Live gaming services are also support and the TV comes with a touch-pad QWERTY remote control.

Capable of showing 2D or 3D material, the LG PX950 is one of the best plasma TVs currently out there. There are loads of streaming and interactive features and even more image controls to achieve the, well, picture-perfect finish. The single-plane design features a two inch-deep panel. Plus, the whole shebang is equipped with the first THX Display certification for 3D sources, meaning you’re getting the ultimate picture quality.

Panasonic delivers superior performance in its TC-PVT20/25 series. The THX mode features a solid 3D picture quality—and you even get a free pair of 3D glasses with purchase. Its VieraCast technology allows you to experience select Internet services and customized options, and it has an improved antireflective screen.

Need help sorting all this mumbo jumbo out? Call on the pros at Tha Media Room today to help you assemble your ultimate media space—with the ultimate TV!

Man Cave Series: The “WOW” Factor

Forget the rules. When it comes to crafting the ultimate retreat, your “man cave,” your opinion is the only one that matters. Don’t conform to peer pressure, catalogue envy or stylish dictation. When deciding on the look and feel of your media room, go with what seems right for you. Tha Media Room is capable of helping you design and conquer any strategic planning method you have in mind—or none at all. Whether you want chic and modern or warm and inviting, our experts single-handedly shape winning arrangements from speakers and TVs to sofas and theater seats with gusto.

Not all media rooms need contain traditional theater seating. While for some folks, that may certainly be preferred or expected (who doesn’t want a supersized drink holder at the ready?), for others a media room might call for vast amounts of seating—cushy, comfortable and leather seating, at that. Your favorite furniture brand might make a great L-shaped couch that you just can’t stop drooling over. Or you might be eyeing a Euro-style sofa and ottoman set. Ponder no more. Incorporate what makes you comfortable!

Once you’ve got the look down pat, you’ve chosen your dream TV, and speakers and seating are selected, don’t forget the extra details. For instance, Yamaha offers the neoHD, an easy remote system that controls your entire home theater setup. The last thing you want is to be scrambling for the fifth remote control while trying to replay your favorite scene in Step Brothers.

Big Texas-Sized Media Rooms

If you purchased a home within the last 5 years, chances are you opted for a large MEDIA ROOM for your family. Most builders offered a media room standard, however, the makings of a great media room weren't. Buyers often find themselves with a great space and potential for family movie night or a Super Bowl party but are left with a giant box without the party.

Tha Media Room can help you achieve the perfect "Party in a Box". With the latest trends in media room technology, flat panel plasma TVs, wireless surround sound systems, intelligent remote control systems and more, Tha Media Room can literally 'hook you up'.

Some top rated media rooms can be costly, which is why most buyers haven't made the additional investment to trick out their space. However, with technology continuing to advance, efficient, wireless systems can be fairly affordable.

The costs that need to be measured:

  1. Usage and Volume of Use.
  2. Cost for the average 'family night' out on the town vs. staying at home.
  3. Spending money on the items that matter. Ex: Quality of TV versus the Remote.
