Relaxation Haven

Your media room isn’t limited to leather seating and a mega-TV. Nor must it just consist of top-notch speakers and cool, ambient lighting. State-of-the-art remote controls and Blu-ray players aren’t the only items either. Think of your media room as the ultimate relaxation haven, a place where you want to spend your spare time and a retreat where you can entertain guests without having to break a sweat. The only hours you spend in your media room shouldn’t be just when the lights are down and the film is rolling! It’s a free-for-all space that you can customize to your heart’s content and be proud to show off to others when friends come calling. So what are we getting at? Raising the bar—the wet bar, that is!

If you’re watching the football game, a cold beer might be in order. But if you’re viewing Breakfast at Tiffany’s for the 16th time, then a martini might be better suited. Or host guests with a tasty selection of wine coolers or bottles of vino. All of this can be served from your own personal wet bar in your media room. Make it as luxurious or as simple as you want—that’s what a custom media room is all about! You have a setup complete with a sink, cabinets and countertops or an easily-installed beer fridge or wine chiller. Tha Media Room can you help you determine best option for your space, especially if you’re looking to make the most out of the room available. It’s all about making it work, whether it’s a custom built-in or a budget-friendly free-standing bar. No more annoying trips back and forth to the kitchen during the middle of entertaining. Blueprint Media: Part 3

Once you’ve lent some thought to all the basics involved in creating a media room—like the TV, speakers, furniture, space and so on—there’s a few more technical components to consider. A control system is pretty much a requirement with today’s media room, thanks to advanced technology that comes with TV screens, media centers and cable and entertainment systems. Universal remote controls were a groundbreaking in this arena, and now there are universal control pads similar to an i-Phone’s technology that allow you to play music, flip channels, dim the lights and do just about everything but pop your popcorn with a press of a button! Tha Media Room stays current on all these system options and can guide you toward selecting one that you feel comfortable with and that is compatible with your system.

Another fine detail with your media room is the wiring and audio and visual system needs. You’ll want to be sure that your home entertainment system is correctly hooked up, thus ensuring it’s compatibility with your universal control and all other components of your media room, from speakers to playback devices. Again, don’t worry about the sight of all those wires! Tha Media Room is capable of handling this for you, but it’s still a factor to consider when selecting your technology and planning on what media center or entertainment setup arrangement you’ll use.

Lastly, when all is said and done and it’s time to enjoy your new media space, you’ll need one more thing: entertainment! From Netflix and Google TV to cable and Starz, there’s a host of entertainment sources out there that can cater to your media watching preferences. If you’re a sports fan, than a deluxe ESPN package might be in your future! An avid movie watcher? Boy, have we got some suggestions for you! There’s no skimping when it comes to the choices available and we can help steer you in the right direction to be sure you’re not only satisfied with not only the look of your media room but what’s on the screen as well.

The Color Wheel Part 2 of 2

This media room is bold! Orange is most certainly the color here, as it’s seen from the ceiling to the walls, the artwork, the sofa and even the flooring. The key to creating a room that’s focused on all one color is to break it up with a few thoughtfully placed pieces, like these small tables, the light fixture, the mirror and the art. By bringing in subtle hints of complimentary shades, the main hue becomes a statement color rather than an overwhelming one.

For a casual yet colorful touch, focus on only one or two main items in this room. This media space is created from a taupe color base and is refreshingly brightened up with turquoise curtains and a sofa. Both of these are very close in color, if not the same color, creating unity even though they are the only bright objects in the room.

Whether you simply can’t decide on a color you like or you’re a minimalist at heart, white is always a great go-to resource. It’s chic and classy and will never go out of style. Plus, it’s easy to match—white is white is white! This media room changes things up just slightly with cream-colored sofas, but an all-white setup can be crisp and airy. Just don’t serve any red wine!

The Color Wheel - Part 1 of 2

We’ve talked about how to decorate your media room, how to showcase (or hide) the TV when it is not in use, and even how to transform your garage into a priceless media space that looks as if it was always meant to be there. But what about color themes? Aside from obvious choices that have to do with sports teams or university logos, there are a million color options out there in which to decorate your media room. It can be the foundation for the space or simply used as an accent color. Bright or bold hues are an unexpected “pop” when it comes to decorating a specified area and can really take your media room to the next level. A well-appointed throw pillow there, vase here or a chicly painted wall can bring everything together for a unique, cohesive look. Take your media room from drab to fab with these tips and photos from the experts at your local media room resource!

We’ll ease into the topic with this simple color-themed media room, where the main shades come from the off-white plush furniture and the rich brown tones of the wooden media center. It’s chic and elegant, but without being overdone or too bold. If you’re trying to mesh your media room’s design with other areas of your house, this type of look can be a great option.

In this beautifully done room, purple is the dominant accent color, which pairs well with the white base. The entertainment center, the sofa, the ceiling and the white in the rug all create a cohesive feel, while the purple brightens up the space through throw pillows, the rug and the painted wall.

It’s all about personalization and Tha Media Room is here to walk you through several theme ideas to get the creative juices flowing!
